About the Opportunity

Rowe's Construction currently has an exciting opportunity for a Crusher Superintendent to join our team on a full-time basis. This role will be based out of Hay River, NT. Overtime and travel to remote camps will be required.

The Crusher Superintendent is responsible for managing all aspects of daily production on multiple Crusher spreads and locations. In addition to managing the crusher, the Crusher Superintendent will have a solid safety record and will be required to supervise a workforce that includes hiring, training and development.

While no two days will ever be alike in this role, your more typical responsibilities will include:

  • Ability to comprehend and meet design specs on aggregate materials
  • Lead and manage all aspects of daily operation efforts at the plants as well as site planning, pit development, quality control and maintenance function.
  • Conducts daily safety meetings and enforce safe work practices and training
  • Time management, including the ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple tasks
  • Manage and maintain appropriate inventory levels at sites
  • Maintain production schedules and forecast models, both short- and long-term
  • Ensure appropriate levels of maintenance and personnel to meet production and safety needs.
  • Ensure compliance with company mandated safety and environmental policies, programs and guidelines as well as regulatory compliance in tandem with our safety department
  • Manage all mine planning, operational, safety, environmental, personnel, and community relations duties at the quarry/pit  in accordance with company programs, policies, and guidelines as well as WSCC and government agencies .
  • Ensure safe and efficient mining and mineral processing methods, logistics, equipment management, work force utilization, production maximization, and cost reduction.
  • Work closely with Management – Maintenance to develop and implement an effective maintenance program for the plant / process equipment.
  • Monitor and help implement an effective program for the plant / process equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain both short-term and long-term maintenance schedules starting with daily checks and extending to multi-year schedules including major overhauls;
  • Work closely with the Purchasing Coordinator and Maintenance Planner to procure maintenance supplies;
  • Work closely with maintenance personnel, to ensure proper maintenance is performed on the plant and all associated equipment.
  • According to the Maintenance Plan, set maintenance priorities for the mechanics, welders, electricians and support personnel. Support said personnel with proper guidance and training as needed.
  • Maintain a work environment that attracts workers with the right skills for a demanding maintenance scenario;
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment for all personnel with full compliance in all directives and regulations regarding safety, health and the environment. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

In order to qualify for this role, you will need at least  10 -15 years of plant management experience, with both electric and hydraulic Portable crushers, screeners and conveyors. Along with a thorough knowledge of crusher quality control and specifications for each job, have strong leadership skills and the ability to lead, manage and motivate. You'll also join us with a valid Class 5 Driver's License and a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.

As our ideal candidate, you'll take responsibility to safely execute the work by following our company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures while demonstrating excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms. Your knowledge of the construction industry, as well as your attention to detail, stress-management and problem-solving skills, will ensure your success in delivering quality workmanship.

Above all, you'll be a reliable team player who has a natural aptitude for excellent customer service and the physical capabilities required to carry out the role.  

About the Benefits

Position is based out of Hay River, NT however the majority of the work is located at remote crusher locations where camp accommodations are provided. Travel and overtime will be required.

We offer a competitive hourly wage range of $40.00 - $55.00 an hour, which will be determined depending on skills and experience.
