About the Opportunity

Rowe's Construction currently has an exciting opportunity for a Concrete Batch Plant Operator to join our team on a full-time seasonal basis. This role will be based out of Hay River, NT. Overtime and some travel to remote camps will be required.

The Concrete Batch Plant Operator is responsible for the set-up, tear down, operation, maintenance and record keeping of portable concrete batch plant. In addition to operating the plant, the Concrete Batch Plant Operator will assist with the coordination of daily plant activities such as scheduling truck drivers and ordering plant materials. Responsible for quality control and managing controls to heat, weight and mix aggregate, cement, and water to produce concrete that conforms to processing specifications.

While no two days will ever be alike in this role, your more typical responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee all plant operations: coordinate and monitor daily workload throughout the plant; ensure plant cleanliness.
  • Oversee all maintenance and mobilizing of the mobile concrete batch plant.
  • Ensure that all product meets 100% total quality requirements; sampling and testing as required; ensure all equipment is working properly; complete all required reports timely and accurately; inform proper personnel of any quality problems that need resolving.
  • Ensure all vehicles and equipment continually remain in safe and efficient operating condition; monitor all preventative and regular maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain adequate levels of all supplies and products.
  • Operating equipment as needed for batch plant operations.
  • Maintain accurate and current reports as required.
  • Ensure all company safety and environmental regulations and policies are always followed.
  • Work with the Safety Department to review and follow current S.O.P.'s 
  • Other duties as assigned.

In order to qualify for this role, you will need at least 5 years concrete batching experience in concrete ready mix along with a thorough knowledge of concrete batching technology, design mixes, equipment, methods and safety. You'll also join us with a valid Class 5 Driver's License and a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.

As our ideal candidate, you'll take responsibility to safely execute the work by following our company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures while demonstrating excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms. Your knowledge of the construction industry, as well as your attention to detail, stress-management and problem-solving skills, will ensure your success in delivering quality workmanship.

Above all, you'll be a reliable team player who has a natural aptitude for excellent customer service and the physical capabilities required to carry out the role.  

About the Benefits

Position is based out of Hay River, NT however travel and overtime will be required.

Hourly wage will be determined depending on skills and experience.
